The Union: A New Jersey Guy Goes Undercover
Directed by Julian Farino and featuring a star-studded cast including Mike Colter, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and J.K. Simmons, The Union is a high-octane blend of action, comedy, romance and adventure.
Netflix acquired the pitch for what would become The Union in May 2020. Initially titled “Our Man from Jersey,” the film stars Mark Wahlberg and features a screenplay by Joe Barton and David Guggenheim, based on a story by Stephen Levinson. Halle Berry joined the cast in March 2021, and by May 2022, the ensemble expanded to include J.K. Simmons, Jackie Earle Haley, Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje, Jessica De Gouw, and Alice Lee.
Principal photography commenced in March 2022, with filming taking place across various locations including London, New Jersey, Piran in Slovenia, and Ponterosso Trieste in Italy.

Mark Wahlberg is likely to play the ordinary guy turned reluctant hero, Mike. Halle Berry will probably portray the charismatic and skilled spy, Roxanne. J.K. Simmons is a versatile actor often cast in authoritative roles, so he might play a government official or a seasoned intelligence operative. Mike Colter is known for strong, imposing characters, which could fit a rival agent or a formidable antagonist. Alice Lee, Jessica De Gouw, and Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje could be part of Roxanne’s team or potentially supporting characters in the mission. The Slovenian Minister of Culture, Asta Vrecko and the Minister of Economic Development and Technology, Matjaz Han, also visited the filming location.From September 19 to October 4, 2022, a film will be shot over seventeen days in various locations across Slovenia, with the majority of the filming occurring in Piran. Over 340 Slovenian crew members, comprising more than half of the total crew, will be involved across all departments, including organization, production, art decoration, make-up and costume design, sound, and technical units. Additionally, hundreds of extras will participate. The total number of Slovenian and foreign film workers is expected to reach 650, and with the inclusion of actors and extras, the number will rise to 1,500.
