Riley eagerly headed to a competitive hockey camp, hoping to secure a spot on her school’s team, the Firehawks. However, just before the camp, a sudden upgrade to her mind’s emotions caused chaos in Headquarters. New emotions like Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment, and Ennui joined the familiar team of Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust. They clashed over how Riley should approach the camp: Joy urged her to have fun, while Anxiety pushed for winning and fitting in with older players.Things went awry when Riley, led by Anxiety, unintentionally caused trouble at the camp, resulting in a punishment for all the campers. Anxiety, believing Riley needed to change to succeed, pushed her to adopt a new, anxiety-focused Sense of Self. This strained her friendships and led to poor performance in a crucial hockey game, leaving Riley in a panic.The original emotions, having escaped from being locked away, intervened to save Riley. Joy convinced Anxiety that Riley didn’t need to change fundamentally to have a bright future. They restored Riley’s original Sense of Self, but the turmoil persisted until they realized Riley’s identity was more nuanced than they initially understood. Embracing both positive and negative memories, they allowed a new, balanced Sense of Self to emerge With this newfound clarity, Riley reconciled with her friends and found success at the camp on her own terms. She made new friends like Val and maintained her close bonds with Bree and Grace. Now, the generations of emotions work together harmoniously to support Riley, ensuring she stays true to herself while navigating life’s challenges with confidence and resilience.
